Yay.....Not so HOT weather is on it's way!! and the big Failure in my CraftRoom!

I am happy to write that the Heating switch that's been on these past couple of months is slowly starting to flip off!!  After weeks of temps in the 100's,  we'll be in the high 80's to low 90's by the end of the week!!  Thank GOD!!!  This drought, heat, no rain, and humidity has really kicked our butts!!  Now if it would only snow!! Ha!! That would definitely be asking for to much!!

Plus, I can get back into the garage to spray paint some of my projects that have been waiting!! ☺ You know because you should never, ever do it in your upstairs craft room, even if you have the window open for ventilation, and your hubby says he thinks it's a bad idea!! ¯\(",)/¯  <---- this is me saying...ehhh it will be fine!!

It wasn't me   <------,  lol!!

Okay it was!  It was a big fail!!  It was just too hot in the garage, and I wasn't dressed appropriately at 1am to have the garage door open!  And by wasn't dressed appropriately I mean in my underwear jammies, hey it's my house and I want to be comfy when I create!, lol !!!

I could have waited and done it in the day, but if you know me I'm VERY impatient, I WANT things to be done in a hurry, and I NEVER follow directions...(most of the time) lol!

So, I had to suck it up and apologize to my hubby for the insane mistake that I made....plus I went to bed with the worst headache.  I learned my lesson and will never do that again.....maybe!!

I'll post more crafts soon!!!

Happy Sunday!! & Being featured!

Hello to everyone!!

I hope you are having a great weekend!!

Thinking of those who were and are being affected by Hurricane Irene!!  Thoughts and prayers to all of you! ☺♥

Well I would have posted earlier buuuuut, we just got a new mattress Friday and well we stayed in bed till about 1pm Saturday, then had to hurry up and get ready for my nieces birthday party!! Which was awesome except for the 111 temp that my phone said....ugh!! It was a scorcher!! Made it back home about 11:30pm, we were soooo tired! So we showered and went to sleep.

Any ways back to the bed......it's awesome and we've been planning on a new bed for a while now!  It's bigger and way more comfier than what we had!!  Can I again write {IT'S AWESOME}, lol!!   New sheets, new pillows aaaahhhhh!!

Also, we had our new door put in!!! It looks fabulous!  I can't wait to put on the new yarn wreath that I'm making for it! ♥

Well, other great news I'm also being featured on To Sew With Love,  so head on over there and vote!! It doesn't necessarily need to be mine but it would be great!! ☺  There are some other great stuff to vote for as well!

Mod-Podge tea-light candle holders

Yup.....more mod-podge!!  It's like a mod-podge party in my house!! ☺
These are easy to make candle holders.  I'm using the 3 hooping jars that I found at HobbyLobby during my "FridayFinds".  So make some and join the mod-podge party! I'd like to see what you make.

Here's what I used:
toile print tissue paper/any design or pattern you wish to use
mod-podge/foambrush
glass jars/containers
tea-light candles
scissors

I used this cute printed tissue paper.  For these small jars I cut about 8 inch  x 5 inch pieces.  I cut out the scenes where it had the people.  This printed tissue had (3) different couples doing something.

After cutting the pieces of tissue, take the jar and apply some mod-podge.  Apply on a small area.

I then applied the tissue to the area that had the glue.  Make sure the pic is centered and straight.  I used the pictures of the couples as my guide.

Apply more mod-podge and work the tissue on very carefully.  If not it will tear...Yes, I had 2 small tears!! lol!

Once my sides were overlapped.  Use the foam brush to push down the bottom, it will naturally fold.  Or apply the mod-podge, then dip your finger in water and smooth out the folds.

Still holding the jar, apply mod-podge all around.  Do not apply any to the part that is past the top.

Take the scissors and trim off the excess.  I cut to where there was just enough to fold over the edge...you can eyeball it here.  If you want to cut to the very edge that's fine.

Using the foam brush I just pushed it over the edge, since the brush still has glue on it, it seals it but you can add more if you'd like.

So from boring and clear to:

Here they are on the mantle!!

See.....easy!!  Hope you enjoyed this little project.

New Tote Bag!

This is the recent tote bag I made and by recent I mean Sunday morning from midnight to 3am!!
It's a gift for my niece, she's turning 1.  Well actually she turned 1 on Sunday, but her party is this weekend.
Well it's basically gonna be the "gift bag" for all the other stuff I made her (a quilt, shadowbox w/name & embellishments).  Plus, her mom can use it to carry all of her other items in, instead of the big bulky diaper bag. I guess my sister in law can use is for herself as well! lol!

These are the fabrics I used.

For the outside and inside pocket I added a black and white polka dot lining

The lining on the inside is this soft purple print.

Since I don't throw anything away, I used the scraps to make the multi-colored rosettes for the outside pocket.

There you have it!!  Sorry I didn't take any pics of me making it....I was in a hurry to get it done.  Her birthday party is this weekend and since I'm the queen of procrastination...I waited till the last minute!

It was just a simple basic tote bag.  If you've ever made one you know their really simple to make.  4 pieces for the bag, 4 pieces for the pockets, 2 pieces for the handles.... and zippers or velcro if you want!  I didn't have any zips or velcro since I was in a time crunch.    For sure my next bag will have zips and I will take pics.

Easy Framed Monogram!

I have tons of frames that are just sitting there waiting to be used!!  So I decided to make this framed monogram.

Here's what I used:
frame
transparency page
two pages of scrapbook paper
newspaper
scissors/pencil/marker
glue gun/glue sticks
art paint/paint brush
scrap fabric
cardboard
mod-podge

Here is my $0.25 frame from a garage sale.  I just wiped it down and removed any stickiness from the price sticker.

Here are some of the scraps that I used. I cut them diagonally to make strips. I also used solid pink and solid white strips....(these were squares for a mat that I was going to make for my sewing machine, but decided on something else.)

I decided on rolled fabric rosettes. I just glue the fabric.

I added a couple to the corner.....I can never decide on how many to add, lol!

I traced the letter "Y" with a marker.  Then I painted it and let it dry.

After it was dried, I carefully cut it out and set it aside.

Scrap page 1.   This is the one I ended up using.

Scrap page 2.

I put the frame on the scrap page. I used the pencil to lightly trace the inside of the frame.

I cut out the the traced square, then I traced around onto the cardboard for the backing.

I mod-podged the page to the cardboard.

I then mod-podged the letter on and put it aside to dry.  While the letter and backing dried I set the frame on a piece of newspaper and cut around.  After the backing dried, I pushed it into the frame until it was all the way in.  I used the glue gun to glue it to the inside of the frame.

I glued the newspaper to the back of the frame with my glue stick. (yesss I know the paper is upside down....hey who's gonna look behind it after it's hung up?) lol!

Here is the finished product and it is now hung in the part of my craft room that is done.
(My craft room is being reorganized/rearranged/cleaned.  It's been a mess for weeks with
sewing fuzz, fabric scraps, dried glue, yarn, markers, and paint, lol!)

Hope you enjoyed this easy project!!   If you make one let me know, I'd like to see it!!

FridayFinds

Technically I bought this stuff yesterday.... but Friday Finds sounds better to me!! lol!!

I hit up the ole HobbyLobby, I don't know how anyone could ever hate this store!!  I'm not gonna say any names....cough, cough ---> my honey!! lol!!  I on the other hand could live in this store!  Really!!  I mean anyone could!!  They have everything....I wouldn't be bored!   I'd have shelter, I'd have fancy furnishings. If I was cold I'd make me a quilt, I could make my own clothes.  I'd be set for every single Holiday, I could make model cars, put puzzles together, paint, frame up my art work, send out invites so people can come and visit me!!
I'd have food....well do  Jordan Almonds count!! <---Because I'd raid them suckers in a minute!! ♥I'm not lying.....lol!!  I'd probably stay away from the miniature doll house section....it creeps me out...I probably watched to many killer doll movies "thanks Mom"! I don't know...little tiny things for the doll house disturb me!! Oh don't get me wrong I had a doll house, but my Jem doll lived in it!!  (Remember Gem dolls)  With those flashing star earrings!! lol!! Whoa I just had a flashback, lol!! Hey...I'm a kid from the 80's! Anyways, she was like a giant...so all of the furnishings we made her were bigger!!

Well, back to my FridayFinds!!!  Anyone that knows me, knows that I go to the clearance isle first....then all of the other isles!! I like cheap!! I spend hours in there finding stuff!! It's my alone time, it's my HappyPlace!

I found some really good items to put in my craft stash.......everything with a yellow sticker is what I bought!

yarn $2.39/felt squares $0.15/stuffing $1.47/ glass hoop jars $1.57/Cardstock pack $2.49

I did buy multiples of these items.....if there were available to buy!

yeah....soooo!!  I'm gonna make myself a Yarn wreath for Fall!!

I know that HobbyLobby has different items on clearance at different stores.....so it's always a hit or miss if you're looking for a specific item!!  I was happy with what I found!!

Let me know if you find any deals today or over the weekend!!

Yay for Friday!!

it's Friday, Friday!!! Sorry no more Rebecca Black "It's Friday" video to put up!!

But I will put up KatyPerry's "Last Friday Night" vid!! (Rebecca Black is in this one though)

I "HEART" Katy Perry!! teehee!! <---girly giggles, lol!

Enjoy!!

ok, ok i confess!

Buuut.... I'm not ashamed!

CABS ARE HERE-Ya!! Lol! <---- that should be in Italian though! Bwahaahaa!

Yes, I have been watching JerseyShore, and yes I will be watching it tonite! I can't stay away from it. Even thought I posted earlier in the year that I was totally over it....I'm not! Some may judge me but that's ok, I will not be offended! :-) I love the orange tans, fake hair, big muscles! I ♥ the lingo....DTF, T-shirt time, grenades, GTL! Lol! I don't think I've lost any brain cells, yet! Lol!

Hey, it's my guilty pleasure! So is TinRoof icecream, twizzlers, chinese food, fuzzy socks, celebrity gossip.....ok, I think I'm giving away to many of my secrets!

Well, if you watch it then you know what's going on! And don't you think "the Situation" is kind of creepy and all chester, <---- you'll have to message if you wanna know what that is! It's nothing nice!

I don't think I had a boring life in my early, mid or late 20's, but seeing the way some of these girls are makes me go hmmmmm! Are people really like this? I don't want to judge but are Jersey people really like this? I mean I know some people think that we all ride horses to work here in TX. Really!! Someone asked me that when I was in NYC.... I said no we have vehicles! And they were shocked to also find out that I drove a truck....shocking, lol! Whatever, everyone is different!!

Okay....got to go and watch my show!!

BYE....

Obsession Alert!!!

Ok, I know some awesome and very talented people have been making these for a while.....This is just my public admission to being obsessed with these Yarn Wreaths!

I've made a couple that I'm quite happy with, but I feel like I could make one for every single door in my house....then I thought "no...I have way too many doors" LOL!! But I will make just a couple for the brand new front door!! The yarn wreath will be perfect, I can't go scratching up the brand new mahogony door!! If you've bought a door before you know they're very expensive and I'd hate to ruin it with scratches.

Here are a couple of pics that I found online.....What a awesome job on these!! I love them all!!

(I do not own these pics, and I have no idea who made the wreaths in the pictures) I just know these are some of the ones that i'm obsessed with!

Don't judge, lol!

I don't know if it's my computer or blogger, but I've been having issues! So if you see misspelled words, sorry!! I rely to much on spellcheck!! and as of yesterday, it has disappeared from my screen!

finally, my water bill will get a little relief. the grass needed some rain water.

hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.

I'm kind of grossed out now!!

If you read my previous post.... you were probably like awww or gross!!  Well I'm totally disgusted now!!  :^p

All this time I thought they were caterpillars......NOPE!! Thank you to one of my kind readers who has informed me that they are BAG WORMS and they turn into ugly moths!!!  EEEEKKKKK!  Now I have the creepy crawlies!!

I was all like awwww I'm gonna have a swarm of Beautiful Butterflies and I'm gonna go stand outside and let them land in my hair,  then I was gonna twirl while blowing bubbles!!  <---- That dream failed....lol!!

Oh well!!  Gonna have to call someone to take care of the situation!!  :(  I'm kind of bummed, about telling my nephew that they're not gonna be butterflies.  I'll just tell him their ugly brown butterflies, lol!

I was wondering where all the orange butterflies came from then, so I went looking around the yard!!  I found a couple of open cocoons on the second floor eaves of our house and some on the trellis of the passion vine!

Wah.................................

Yeah....it's hot again! and Yes, it's another post of me writing about the TX heat! Oh and caterpillars!! lol! ☺

We're breaking records here!!  This heat is getting to me!  I just want to sleep in a dark, cool room!

But sadly I have to work and I need toothpicks for my eyes!! (Φ,Φ)  Who remembers that episode from the Tom&Jerry cartoon !!  Why is it that of all of the episodes I always think of this one and the one where a little cat sings "mama yo quero"!!   <----- Weird!! lol!

Okay, back to this heat!!  Major water restrictions now, most of Houston is on voluntary odd/even schedule for watering out doors.   Since I don't live in Houston....per se....  Our neighborhood is not on water restrictions "yet"!!  There have been reports in some neighborhoods that the fine will be $10,000 if you are caught watering!! What.....that's a little excessive don't you think!!
There's all kinds of Stages going on..... Craziness!!  We need some relief soon!!

With all the heat going on,  I have a slight little problem with a certain little insect!!!  The Caterpillar!!!  While I love nature....Really!! These little suckers (no pun intended) have literally sucked the life out of our Cypress Tree and it's the one planted in front of our house! Not pretty!  Cypress trees are supposed to be green, plush, full spears that are growing out of the ground.  (*_*) it just looks sad and pathetic!

Look at him....Chomping away on my tree! ugh!!

LOOK!!!! He or she needs to hurry up and change into a butterfly!!

When I got too close they went back into their cocoon!

What a great disguise!!  At first I thought it was the tips of the tree burning off cause of the heat.

You can see a couple here....I stopped counting a 370....so we estimate at least 500 to 600 cocoons!

During the taking of these photos, I found out there was a Yellow Jacket nest in the middle of the tree too!!  I almost got stung in the eye!!  That would not have been fun at all!

When I first noticed the cocoons I actually thought the tips of the tree were burning off, so I started to grab them and throw them in my snipping bucket, then I thought.....it was kind of squishy.  Okay I yelped, lol!!  and threw it across the yard! lol!  This was the first clue, upon closer inspection, I saw they were moving....eeeewwww! Then I noticed the heads and little arms holding on to the plant and chomping away!!  It's crazy to see something like this happening....these little insects have disguised their cocoons with pieces of the tree - hence why I was fooled!!  Nature is awesome!!   Also, I became a little "cooler" to my nephew!!  He loves nature too....He has a no-kill policy for bugs!!  He thought it was incredible to have all this going on in front of my house!  He thinks I'm a scientist now!!  lol!!  I ♥ the mind of a 7yearold!

Yesterday, I saw about 10 to 15 orange butterflies around my passion flower and morning glory vines!!  It was amazing!!   I hope I see more today!

Why can't today be Saturday? :^(

This is our second week back from our mini stay-cation!!  This year we didn't go out of state.  We ventured to Galveston, TX!  You might say, that's not a vacation but if we're traveling over a hour and a half to get somewhere....then yes it's a vacation to me!!  Plus, if you live in or have ever traveled to the Houston area it's basically a 45 min to a hour drive to get anywhere and you're still in the city limits, lol!

Well, its been years since we've stayed in Galveston and surprisingly it was very pleasant.

The only complaints that I had were:
  1. Why didn't I just go ahead and put my sunblock on? (long story), lol and I'm blaming my hubby!
  2.  We both looked like cooked lobsters at the end of the day and it's not really cool to have suntan shades.
  3. My whole right arm is peeling,  oh and my hubby, well pretty much his forehead down to his toes has peeled!!  I told him, he's like a brand new man!! lol!  And it's only the front.....he never flipped over!! ☺
  4. I wish we stayed there longer!

This is what I'd rather be doing now:

Watching the view from underneath my umbrella

Taking self pics and sending them to my friends with quotes like
"hey, look what I'm doing while you're slaving at work"
"look at me, soaking up the sun!!"
"Do I look bored?"

Back to reality, I feel so worn out!! This heat is not making it any better!! I really wish we'd get some rain down here!!

It's just a blah day today!!!  I need some cheering up!! ☺
