New Summer Tote Bag!

It feels like Summer is already here in Texas.   We've had some days in the 90s, thank goodness there has been a breeze on the days we've had to be outdoors.  I probably would have melted, lol!  One of those breezy days was on Saturday.  It was for my niece's daughters 1st I guess that would make her my great that made me feel old.   I can't be a great anything at 32..... (*_*).

I love making things for people....especially my family and especially for sweet baby girls that turn one!!  Once they're one I feel like they need a new bag instead of a big ole bulky diaper bag.  Plus this bag is big and deep enough to carry diapers and wipes and whatever mom needs to carry.

This bag was one of my favorites to make.  I love the green and pink colors.

I'm not going into too much detail about how it was made.....check out my tote bag tutorial if you'd like.

Pockets sewn on, straps ready to be put on.

I always add a extra little some to the bag.  So I made this cute little stuffed "K" for her name.

See...cute huh!

Love, Love, Love it!!

Here's the inside!

Now, since it was for her birthday the gift of the tote bag doubled as a gift bag.....everyone loved it!  Here it is filled with her gifts - clothes, a stuffed animal and a lady bug.   Ladybug is her nickname and that was the theme of the party.  I am a rebel when it comes to themes or registries....I hate them and I will give what I want.  So if they don't like it...oh well take it back...that's just me! (",)  But since I was in a good mood, I added the little lady bug, plus it was cute.

Here it is ready to be given away to the birthday girl!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my weekly project!

Have a great week everyone.

Pictures and Words - Wednesday 5/23

When I'm not busy doing work, work....I do things like this.
I draw or sketch stuff in the hopes of making them into something someday.

Annnnnddd I find inspiration in the oddest things.  For instance yesterday it was these teeny tiny little tangerines that I was about to gobble up.  I had a ah-ha moment and thought these would definitely work as "owl eyes".  See weird, lol!

Well I started drawing around the eyes and just went from there.

See...proof I was drawing this.  Who else has little chubby sausage fingers and would admit it?

I think I'm going to embroider this print.
Plus who doesn't love Owls!

Everyone have a lovely day!!

In full bloom - Framed Flower Art

Who doesn't like LOVE flowers???  Well you're the weird one if you don't!  My favorite flower to receive is any color, but my all time favorite are Yellow Tulips!  Getting flowers, any kind for that matter for no reason is always a pleasant surprise.  My second all time favorite flower is the white Peony.  Really, these are soooooo beautiful.  I love them when they are fully bloomed or just barely opening.

Okay, enough of my flower rambling!  I decided to make a piece of art to resemble a fully bloomed peony.  Can you guess what I used to make the flower?  I was also able to use a piece of fabric from my scrap busting bin and I also reused a garage sale find frame.

Sorry for all of the pictures....I couldn't decide which ones to show, so I just kept most of them.

Have you guessed yet?  It's really simple.

To make the flower petals was fun and easy...but the burning of my finger tips, not so much .
The flower looks like porcelain here doesn't it.

I really enjoyed making the center of the flower....after it was cooled I then spray painted it.
You figured out what was used yet.  C'mon they're repinned all over Pinterest.

I wiped down the bestie found it for me at a garage sale for - dun...dun...dunnnnn 25¢
I cut out a piece of cardboard to fit the frame, then wrapped it in the piece fabric.  For the backing I just glued a piece of newspaper so you couldn't see all the glue and tape.  Sorry I forgot to take a picture of it.
Then I hot glued the flower onto the fabric.  After the glue dried I stood the frame up and put glue into the crevices.  I don't want it to fall off after it's put up.

It looks really great if I say so myself.  Well of course I'm gonna think that, lol!!

The three different textures used were wood, fabric and plastic!!

I used spoons for the petals and forks for the center! See, now you're thinking...really or whaaat!
Cool huh!!

Now it's ready for hanging.  I just have to decide how I should hang it.  The hook is at the top, the way the pic above is.  But I could easily add hooks to hang in the other way.

Leave comments letting me know which way to hang it.
↨ upright
↔ sideways
I'll tally up the comments next week and hang it up.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous week!

Pictures and Words - Wednesday (i guess the opposite of Wordless Wednesday)

Well, well, well  look who decided to bloom this past weekend!!
My Passion flowers.
These flowers look absolutely gorgeous.  Sadly the bloom will only last about a day. Luckily there are tons of buds on the vines, so I'm happy that I have been getting about 5-7 blooms everyday since Saturday.

They look like they could be from an alien planet. I know that there are about 500 different species, well according to the Internet ('~')! You know how reliable that is, lol!  Some vines will bear the passion fruit.  My vines never have, but I'm happy they don't....who knows what animals I'd have coming in my yard.

As you can tell from prior posts, I do love to be outside in the yard tending to plants.  I'm always watering, trimming and talking to them.  Yes talking....and I said I would never be a "talker" to plants but I do.  I know I'm not the only one.

Happy you stopped by to take a look!

Tasty Tuesday - Parmesan crusted Asparagus with Garlic salt and parsley

How is it that I do not like tomatoes, onions or avocados.....but I can stuff myself silly with asparagus???  Crazy huh!!  I'm a weirdo I guess.

It seems like Parmesan crusted asparagus is all the rage these days.  Hey you can put Parmesan on just about anything and it would be delish.  Well, I've been eating these babies for a long time now.....and theHubs always gives two thumbs up when I make these.  So if your into eating these yummy little green sticks and have never seen this recipe before....try it!

What is needed:
Garlic Salt
Olive oil
baking sheet
stove (duh)

This is how I make them:
Pre-heat oven to 400ยบ
Rinse off the little green sticks and pat dry
Cut off the bottom stems (or cut, then rinse, whatever you want)
Align them on a foil lined baking sheet. (I sprayed the foil with some Pam)

Drizzle olive oil over the asparagus
Then add the garlic salt, parsley and then the Parmesan
Add till your heart is happy!! It's up to you!

Pop them in the oven for about 10-15 minutes.
The thicker ones usually take a little longer.
After they're done scoop them up and plate them.

This is super delicious as a side or appetizer.

Yummy, yummy in my tummy!!

Tasty Tuesday - Snack Time

This has to be the BEST SNACK EVER........

I have only ever seen these at HEB or Central Market.  So I'm not sure which other grocery store they can be found outside of Texas.  Here is their website, maybe they have a list of where their product is sold. They are made fresh in the store, near the deli section.  You can't miss'll also hear a loud pop by the machine that is popping them out like little frisbee's.

Made from wheat, brown rice and corn!! They come in about 7 different flavors that I've seen.  And only 15 calories per piece!

To make it even yummier, we add some Nutella!!  Shoot I think I'd eat an old shoe with Nutella, I love this stuff! Any who, I've topped them with Turkey salad, used them with dips or just plain by themselves. Yummy!

I don't feel like I'm cheating when I eat's really, really good.  It's only cheating when I'm still eating Nutella by the spoonfuls, do it too!  I hope that they're in stores near you...I don't want you to miss out on the yumminess.

***I am not being paid to endorse these products.  These are my personal opinions.

Crafting the midnight away! Embroidering

Where has the year gone?  It's May and there are a little less than 2 months before the 4th of July!! CRAZY!!  We were just popping fireworks for New Years.  I really hope we don't have a ban for the 4th of July, we were on a fire ban and water restrictions last year.

I've been busy these past couple of weeks with different projects...the sewing is easy to get done and show it off.  It's the bigger stuff that takes a bit of time - like furniture.  Slowly but surely its happening. It doesn't help that we're already getting the's taking forever for my spray paint projects to dry.  After last years super smart idea of spray painting in the craft room and the big fail, I have to stick to the garage from now!!

So, while the other projects get finished and pictures are taken and edited, I will show you what else I do at the midnight hour besides getting my beauty sleep.

I make things like this in bed with my lamp on because I don't want to wake theHubs.

I made this one for my craft room!!  It's my blog name.  I hand drew the whole thing and used colored thread, it was not easy because the thread is too thin and kept knotting.  But I finished it!

This one is also for the craft room.  I used embroidery floss here.  Sometimes a gal needs some motivating words.  These are from a song...don't songs sometimes speak to you. Or don't you think wow... story of my life.  I traced the star from my lap top and wrote out the quote by hand.

The above blue one is for my side table in my bedroom....It's my wedding date.  Yes, I know the date to my anniversary, it's just a reminder of our LOVE.  Don't worry I'm not gonna talk about our gross, mushy love!! Who wants to here that!! lol!!  I used a iron on for the heart,  I couldn't draw that perfect.

Not to be rude or mean, but for a loooooooooooong time I thought of embroidering as a old folk craft...Sorry!  It was always old English letters, or the country cat that I saw and I was not interested at all.  If it was cooler or more modern maybe I'd try it.  I know now that there are about a million things that can be embroidered.  There are tons of iron ons that are cool enough for me, or I can draw whatever I want.

Well, I hope you like them.  If you've never tried to embroider give it a's super easy and it's fun to pick all the colors.

Everyone have a fabulous day!!
