Can you see it.... Can you feel it.... Can you smell it....

What am I talking about you ask - only the most glorious season of the year...

Fall

Source
Technically it's still about 3 or 4 weeks away, but who cares I will still say it's Fall after Labor day!

I can feel the change coming, the nights have a slight cooler breeze.  It's getting darker a tad bit earlier than it was last week.  We could go almost to 8:45 and still have light out.  Now, it's 8:30 and the sun is set.

We'll be able to buy pomegranates from the market, yummy! I can also see the pecans on the trees, before you know they will be falling and ready for the picking. Soon pumpkins will start to appear.  I can go into Bed Bath & Beyond just to smell all the cinnamon scented pine cones and candles (yes, I do that). Baking treats is my absolute favorite thing to do....(squeal) ← can you tell I'm excited, lol!

Halloween and Thanksgiving decor is out.....Even Christmas is out.  Well in Hobby Lobby it is, they start putting it out in mid-July.  Crazy right, but they have a lot of space to set up. So I can understand.  I took out my Christmas tree's too, they have to be pre-fluffed. What...you don't pre-fluff the branches?  I know, I'm crazy but this is my favorite time of the year....I'm always super busy, I have classes at night, and my weekends are jam packed with errands, so  I start early.

Between the studying and catching up on some movies with theHubs this weekend.  I will be trying my hand at baking.... breads, biscuits, rolls.  We'll see how that turns out.  I know it's still a little warm out, but I 'm so ready to start the Holiday cooking and baking. *\(",)/*

"fruits" from the garden

Sadly, not my garden.  I don't even have a garden and the last time I checked, none of my flowers were sprouting fruits or veggies.

This yummy snack was from my friends garden!! She was sweet enough to give me some.

I ♥ cucumbers!
They're so refreshing to eat.

These were washed, peeled, sliced and seasoned with salt, pepper and lemon.......DELISH!!

Cucumber facts:

Fruit or Veggie

From a scientific perspective the part of the cucumber plant that we enjoy is a fruit. The cucumber has seeds and is formed from the flower of the plant. At the same time, a cucumber is a vegetable as well. How can a cucumber be a fruit and a vegetable you might ask? The term vegetable is solely used in culinary terms so as far as cooking is concerned, a fruit can be a vegetable, but scientifically speaking, the cucumber is a fruit.

Much of the nutritional value of the cucumber is found in the skin.
Cucumbers are high in vitamins A and C, calcium, and fiber.
Mostly water and nutritional yumminess, cucumbers are very low in calories.
  • Cucumber Fact #1 : Cucumbers are natural diuretics used to help lose weight!
  • Cucumber Fact #2 : Cucumbers sold in supermarkets are coated with a thin layer of wax for preservation that gives the cucumber an unnatural shine. Most of the cucumbers in the home garden are naturally dull green.
  • Cucumber Fact #3 : Soak slicing cucumbers in salt water before slicing to suck some of the moisture out of the cucumber. Sliced cucumbers leak water when sliced.
  • Cucumber Fact #4 : Sliced cucumbers release water and can be used to moisturize the skin. Slices of cucumber placed on the eyes is a common remedy for wrinkles around the eyes.
Enjoy some today!

Christmas, Christmas time is here!!

I know you were just singing the title....lol!
I love that song!

Are you ready for Christmas?  I am soooo ready.  I totally ♥ the holiday season.  Can you believe that  there are only 26 more days till Christmas? What makes it even more Christmas-y (yeah I added a "y") is we finally got the chilly weather....32ยบ this morning wooo-hooo!! Now if it would only snow. Highly unlikely...booo.

The house is pretty much decorated, I'm just adding all the finishing touches!!  Here is our Christmas Tree, up and festive and patiently waiting for the gifts. Which will not be put under the tree because of 2 certain nosey, no rule following, sneaky felines -

Christmas Tree 2011

I've only had one problem while putting up decorations.  Being the impatient patient person that I am, I wanted to hurry and put the lights out before it rained on Saturday.  We have a string of lights that's like an extra we use for its light bulbs and it's always put at the end where I really don't  have to have lights on. It works out perfect because I can just tuck the unused non working lights  behind one of the plants near the plug.  Well it rained and I never put in bulbs in the 3 of the empty sockets. I didn't even think of it.  Saturday evening after all the rain was done with I plugged them in and they were on, no biggie...well when I went to unplug them for the night, they were off. I have no idea when they went off.  Let just say I had to change out that string of lights!! Boo!!! No fun at all!   I started to swap out the lights for one of the new boxes that I bought.  I'm so glad I decided to start changing the non-working lights at the next string, not where they were plugged in and nicely hidden, because when I got to the end of the string I was short about 6 feet of string from where they were plugged in - since my favorite store in the whole wide world - Hobby Lobby decided to change the C-9 lights from HL brand to the GE brand and jack up the price to 9.99 -Thank you!! Same amount of bulbs, just set closer together....eek!  So I had to rig up another extension cord!! Very frustrating!! And it's orange, no way to hide that, I'm gonna have to go and buy another green cord.  So instead of 3 string of lights now I have to use  5 string of lights to do the one side!! ugh!!!!!!!  Do I sound whiny??  That's fine!!  It was just annoying!! But it's done, so now I can enjoy my lights till the New Year!

What was one disastrous episode you've had with the Christmas Tree or while decorating !!

Hmm... I have so many stories but my favorite would have to be when I was 6.  We lived 3 houses down from my grandmother, we were having dinner and daddy told me to run to the house and plug in the Christmas tree lights.  Shouldn't take me more than 5 minutes.    So I ran home and got on my belly to crawl on the side of the tree, well I guess I was a little to close because I bumped it and it came toppling over on top of me....yup it was insane. Well this was a monstrous tree, it was heavy and completely full of lights, tinsel, glass ornaments, you name it it was in the tree! Well good thing my dad wasn't too far behind, I would have been there a while, if he hadn't of thought it would of probably been hard for me to get to the plug.  Sadly every things was broken!!  I was okay, just a little scraped up from the tree needles.  But we went out the next day and bought more ornaments and I was never allowed to touch the plug ever again. I didn't either...it wasn't till I was 19 and I was moved out on my own.

Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt finally comes to Houston...well sort of!

i do not own this photo!
So, now that it's here are like really famous people
gonna go there now?  Probably not, lol!

Any whoooo......

I'm really excited for it, I like to see all the hype when the 1st "whatever" comes to Houston!

In my opinion they should have built the 1st one in the Galleria Area.  They have everything else there and it would be in the up-town part of the city.  Nope, it's in the Baybrook (ClearLake/Webster) area allllllll the way on the other side of Texas, geez! Okay not really, Baybrook is south of Houston heading down to Galveston basically. It is really pretty there, don't get me wrong! It's just I'm a little miffed because I would have to drive over an hour to have it (you know with Houston traffic).

Oh well....
at least my side of town got the 1st Carl's Jr., Yeah buddy!!
*sidenote - i have yet to go to it, lol!! I have been to the ones in Cali.

I guess I'll just be happy with my Cheesecake with pecans waffle cone from our local "slab of the marble", (yes, that's what I call it) or the most delish Chocolate w/ peanut butter swirls from Baskin!!  YUMMY!

Okay, I just made myself hungry!!

What's your flavor?

Cabs are HERE-YAH!!

Yes...I say with great sadness that my guilty pleasure is watching JerseyShore, lol!!!  This show is like a bad accident waiting to happen, and I can't seem to pull my eyes away!  This show has it all - drama, backstabbing, sex, gossip, girl fights, drunkenness it's totally awesome ☺!

It's crazy how popular it has become and you can see the success....everyone is driving BMW's, Mercedes, and Big Daddy Caddy's!!  Some of that money should be saved and not wasted on TANS ---> aka Snookie......Maybe it's just me, but she did look extra orangy-er....I know this isn't a word but it's my word!  But yeah, I'm sorry she looked horrendous.

This season looks like it's gonna be good!!  I can't wait till they bring out the Grenade Whistle!! lol! Yes they do use words not regularly used around the US or I should say with different meanings from around the US...like such terms as:

Blow-out (n.): An extremely sculpted male hair style that means uses tons of styling gel and a hair dryer so that ultimately the guy's hair looks frozen

Creep (v.): Checking out someone for a potential hook-up, preferably with someone under the influence of alcohol

Fist pump (n.): A dance move used to show excitement while clubbing

Fred Flintstone toe (n.): The negative description of a woman's big toe

Grenade (n.): A less attractive girl to give to a friend (or a wing man) so she doesn't get in the way of a good time with her hot friend

GTL (n.): Three letters that stand for the routine of going to the gym, tanning and doing laundry

Heated (adj.): Fired-up, angry; often as a precursor to fighting

Juiced (adj.): Very well built with lots of muscles often earned through the use of steroids

Pouf (n.): A hair style in which a large amount of hair is piled on top of the head

Pound it out (v.): To engage in sexual relations

Robbery (n.): The act of stealing another male's most recent female conquest

Smush (v.): To have sex

Vibe (v.): To be attracted to another person

and others such as  DTF, LandMine, and Hippo.....

A show that I might potentially watch is Skins....looks interesting!  I can't wait for my other shows to air..like Nurse Jackie, UnitedStatesOFTara!!  I think I probably watch to much TV!!  I'm obsessed with shows like Hoarders, Storage Wars, and The Bad Girls Clubs!  I know it's crazy but I can't stop watching. That is exactly why I don't have a DVR...I would never leave the house  and that would be sad! lol!

Okay...I'll write again later!
