These are the very first bibs that I've ever made. I think they came out really cute! I've seen so many different variations on different blogs, so it's kind of hard to create an original idea!! So, this is what I came up with using all the ideas that I've seen.
These are for a friend who is having a baby shower, I will probably make about 2 more. I won't be able to go but I hope she really likes my gift.
Cute Huh!! I used denim for the fronts and cotton for the backs. |
After taking about an hour to sketch 3 different bib styles. I decided on the classic neck tie bib, as the first one to be sewn. I didn't want to deal with sewing neck holes, Velcro, or button snaps just yet! I wanted it to be easy. |
I traced out my pattern with a 1/4 seam allowance and cut it out. |
I ironed out my fabric for the front strip, the back and the neck tie. |
I cut out the strip size I wanted and also the back part. |
I stitched a zig-zag on the edge of the strip and added decorative stitching to the top and bottom.
Then sewed the two pieces together (right sides together), leaving a 2 inch opening at the bottom . |
After flipping it to the right side out, I pressed it and then stitched around it. Then I pinned the the neck tie on. |
Yay, I'm almost done!! After pinning, sewed the tie all the way across.
