Summer time sadness!

5 months later......I'm just now writing a new post!  Having and raising a child is hard work!

As hot as this Texas summer has been,  I will miss it.  Well sort of.....not the heat, but the amazing journey that I've had the pleasure of experiencing.

My journey of being a first time mom/parent, getting to know this little human being that I'm responsible for, for the rest of his life.  We never knew how amazing and life changing this "LOVE" for this one child would be.

These past couple of weeks have been filled with new experiences, new skills learned, not only for our little boy but us as parents.   I see it more, since I am fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom.   Being able to watch this tiny little thing grow and become independent. Laugh at things, hold his bottle,  smile at mommy or daddy because he recognizes us, seeing his little personality bloom. It makes my heart smile!

He's been crawling for a couple of weeks now and getting into everything.  Trying to pull the cats tails, when he can get close enough to them.  He's been pulling himself up now.  Eating like a big boy in his high chair.  We are doing half pureed/mashed foods and half baby lead weaning. This has been fun and messy at times! He's been having slobberthons, for the past month, on occasion fussiness occurs but no teeth in sight.

His first word has been da-da! Hubby is happy.  I'm like hey...I see him 24/7 and all I get is ba-ba (bottle)! Lol, oh well I'm happy,  baby is happy that's what matters most.

So, my crafting has been put on the back burner for a while.  I have sewn some bibs, I sewed a mei-tai carrier for little one. Now that he's more on a schedule I can get back to sewing more.  I have tons of stuff that I want to get started on.

If you still read my blog thank you!  Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some more.

Here is my 7 month old!  We are deeply and madly in love with this Lil guy!  Chubby thighs, big attitude,  crazy hair and all!  They do grow up so quickly.....

I'm still here....

My life has completely changed!  I'm now a mommy to the most handsome 2 month old....well to me he is, lol!

I thought I would be able to post more, boy was I sadly mistaken.  I'm typing from my phone now, with the lil guy falling asleep in my arms.

Everything has been wonderful,  a little challenging but what an amazing experience these past couple of weeks have been. I love it. I can't wait to share more.... hopefully when the lil bug isn't so demanding,  lol! Who am I kidding,  I'm lucky if I get to eat or shower most days!

I hope everyone has a great great week!

Soon I will be a mommy!

Wow...today I am 39wks! The baby has a couple of day to make his grand entrance. There are no words to even describe the feelings and emotions that I have at this point.  We have been waiting a looooooong time for this day and now that it's just around the corner....we're just over the Moon!

Here is my last baby belly picture! Kind of sad about it, lol!  But I just think how I'm gonna feel when he's in my arms.  xoxoxo

Halloween Crafts 2013 - with the nieces and nephews!

WOO-HOO...... next week is Halloween!!

This is just a short post sharing some pictures from Halloween craft day 2013.  We had so much fun.....the kids are always entertaining.  I'm happy that next year we will have baby Vincent to share this experience with his cousins.

It was such a nice day out, I decided to do the crafts out on the patio.

Let the Halloween crafting begin...

This years pumpkin theme was "Swamp Thing"!  I'm glad I decided to do this craft outside...can you imagine the mess in the house.  It was so much fun seeing the kids get crafty with all the eyes and giving their creations hair cuts.  Silly kids! Baby Vincent got his very own swamp thing pumpkin too!!

We also made mummy lanterns. Even made one for baby.  His is the 1st one with the googly eyes.

We or should I say my sisters were in charge of making the yummy Mummies, I'm in charge of adding the eyes!!  Well someone wasn't keeping time....we'll just blame my brother for that one.  They were still delish because there were none leftover.

Here are the kiddos inside, hands washed, shirts off....why, I have no idea, lol!  But they were all excited and ready to make their own pizzas.

Awesome afternoon with the people I love!

Words and Pictures Wednesday....on a Thursday, lol!

** Well this was yesterdays post....I don't know why it didn't post. Oh well here it is!

Seems like this month is flying by just as quickly as last month did.  Here we are the 16th of October and I'm already wishing it was Thanksgiving already.....I blame the baby and Guy Fieri of the show Diners Drive-ins and Dives. I don't remember which day but the hubby and I were watching a rerun and they had the most delicious, the most mouth watering open faced turkey sandwich you have ever seen.  With all the fixings....okay I'm making my mouth water again, LOL!

Any who things are getting done.  This past weekend was Halloween Craft day with my nieces and nephews.  If you don't know I have done Halloween/Christmas craft day with them every year since they were little toddlers.  I remember when it was just the two nephews, now those same two are 9 and 8 years old.  Plus, next year I get to do crafts with our little boy!  I definitely can't wait for that day.

Planning is happening for the baby shower, almost 2 weeks away, eeek!! The invitations have been sent out.  RSVPs have been trickling in.  I think I've changed the registry up for the last time.  It was so over whelming.

TheHubs and I will be getting the dresser this weekend. So we can finish up the nursery.  It's all coming together now.  I can't believe it, there will be a baby in there in a few short months.  Next month we will also have a maternity photo shoot done, I'm really excited about that, so is theHubs.

Well here are a few pics that I have to show you on the Pics and Words Wednesday......

This would be Ms.Betty FurPants, she believes she is human.  She is spoiled and thinks everything we eat she has to taste test. This is one crazy cat!

Fall has begun, which usually means so does baking....Sadly being pregnant, tired and even more tired - Anything that needs to be in the oven has to be easy.  So, sadly no baked goods from scratch right now. This momma is exhausted!!

Here is baby Vincent and myself... 26 weeks which means 6 ½ months.  My ankles look swollen but they're not.  I sprained my ankle pretty bad a couple years ago....it's never looked the same, lol!!

Words and Pictures Wednesday!

Well September was here and now it's on its way out!! That is fine with me......since on Sunday we were able to say hello to wonderful FALL!!  We had the most beautiful day.

Last week theHubs and I were on vacation. We didn't go out of state, since we already took a vacation to New Orleans earlier this year.  So we did a lot of local stuff.  Which was fine with me, I can only walk so much at the moment.  I'm a big walker....but this baby thinks it's fun to lay really low in my tummy. OUCH!

One of the days we drove out to Galveston!!  It was very relaxing...the only complaint I have is the new parking system now.  You have to pay to park at the seawall!!  First you call the 1-800 number, then confusingly enter your license plate number,  enter the special location code, then you have to use a cc or bank card to pay.  Why don't they just install the electronic parking meters?  After a frustrating 15 minutes of dealing with the phone....looked up the web page and downloaded the app., much easier than the phone number....but you have to enter the same things....plates, code, and cc number.  Oh well, we finally figured it out and got it done.   Then we enjoyed the day.

We relaxed at Murdochs......ocean views, nice breeze, rocking chairs and if you wanted to get a drink they sold some inside.  Murdochs is like a gift shop - lots of stuff to buy: shells, shirts, trinkets, postcards, drinks and more.

After relaxing we walked over to the Pleasure Pier.  It's closed during the week, that was fine.  Like I was going to get on any of the rides.  We had dinner at the Bubba Gump restaurant... we've eaten at the one in NYC and the one at Universal Studios in CA.  The food was yummy!

After dinner we walked off some calories on the beach.  Here is Mommy, Daddy and baby Belly with our toes in the sand!  I'm starting to not see my feet anymore  (*_*)

Pictures and Words Wednesday! A couple of pregnancy questions too!

Today is the day....I've finally hit the half way mark in this pregnancy!!  I still can't believe this is really happening, then I get a nice swift kick to my guts to bring me to reality.  Those little toes are too active.

Most parents have dilemmas and these are some of mine...

They range from stressing out over kids clothes sizes....which I shouldn't have to worry about just yet...but I do.  I worry about if I'm going to be a great mom.  Will I cry if the baby is crying....see I'm nuts.

Here are some of the more important issues that are currently on our brain.  My doctor has given me a due date in the 3rd week of January!  I have a question for other moms that might happen upon today's post.  Since I will be a first time mom,  should I expect to deliver before or after my due date?  I do plan on working until I can't waddle through the front door anymore.  The Hubs has asked if I would like to be a stay at home mom......which I would guess is most moms wish to do.  Don't get me wrong I so want to stay at home with baby, helloooo I'm not carrying a tiny human for almost 40 weeks just to have someone else take care of them.  But, even though I want to stay home I feel guilty....why...because I wouldn't want to put all of the responsibility on the Hubs.  Financially we are great, that's not the issue.  It's hard to explain how I feel, I was raised by a single mom, who taught us to be very independent, so sometimes I want to take charge of things and situations. I have the most amazing husband, he has provided me with all of my needs and has given me most of my wants.  I definitely have no complaints.  I just feel that I am capable of working to provide for my family as well.  I guess I'm just thinking too much.  I have some decisions to make pretty soon.  What do you think?

Sorry this is not the best picture....but here is my belly at 5 months!

Pregnancy Questionnaire
How far along: 20 weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 2LBS

Maternity clothes: Definitely

Stretch marks: Nope

Sleep: Sleeping is uncomfortable

Best moment last week: Feeling the baby's movements more and more!

Movement: lots of swishing going on!

Food cravings: Seafood, spicy foods, watermelon, and chocolate milk

Food aversions:  lettuce & sweet or sugary stuff (boohoo)

Gender: Still a secret.....though it has slipped to a few and they have sworn secrecy until the day we announce!  This is sooooooo hard, lol!

Labor signs: None, thank goodness.

Belly button - in or out? in, but the bottom half is starting to stretch. GROSS!

What I miss: energy and sleeping on my stomach
What I am looking forward to: Finally revealing the baby gender.

Milestones: I've finally reached the half way mark in this pregnancy!!

Everyone have a great week!

Words and Pictures Wednesday

Dear August.....why are you leaving us so soon?  Yes you've been a hot one, yes summer will come to an end but time is moving too quickly.

For me anyways....

I'm almost at the half way point in my pregnancy, I remember just wanting to reach the 8th week, then the 12th week.  Now I'm half way there.  We've been preparing the baby's room.  We put the crib together....I almost cried!!  I can't believe that I will have a tiny little person in there, that will need me for everything. <tear>  Soon, I will start sewing for the baby....I just have to decide on fabrics! (",)

Here's a quick pic from Instagram......

I wonder how much longer before I can't see my feet anymore!

Pregnancy Questionnaire

How far along: 18 weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0 lbs.... still no weight gain!

Maternity clothes: Definitely

Stretch marks: Nope

Sleep: Taking forever to fall asleep

Best moment last week: Being able to see my grandmother for her 76th birthday.  This was the first time to see me since I told her I was pregnant.

Movement: lots of swishing going on!

Food cravings: Seafood, spicy foods, watermelon, and chocolate milk

Food aversions:  lettuce & sweet or sugary stuff (boooooo)

Gender: We found out on Tuesday!!  We are beyond excited, annnnndddd I have to keep it a secret for 3 more weeks!!  I told theHubs I don't know if I can do that!

Labor signs: None, thank goodness.

What I miss: energy

What I am looking forward to: Finishing up the baby's room.

Words and Pics Wednesday! With a side of pregnancy info......

Hi people!!  Today is definitely a good day!  I feel good, I'm blessed and have so much to be thankful for.  My only complaint is this dang heat!  The heat dome over Texas needs to pop....or just go away somewhere else...lol!!  Houston we have a problem - I'm melting.

I thought I'd share some quick pictures from Instagram for today's Pictures and Words Wednesday!!

Bought the paint for the baby's room!!  I love eggshell, easy to clean - I have to think ahead, before I know it little chubby fingers will be touching these walls.

It was painting time!!  I even had my mask on - which is very uncomfortable.

I love me some watermelon, but now that I'm pregnant it's watermelon time alllllll the time! This was being chopped up at 5 in the morning, lol!

Eeeek!!  This just became real!  The hubs and I went to go buy the crib on Monday!

Monday afternoon traffic.....after buying the above crib!  Houston traffic sucks pretty much all times of the day...at least we were in the HOV lane and it was our day off.

*****************************************

While I'm in the sharing mood, here is some information about how my pregnancy is coming along.

Pregnancy Questionnaire

How far along: 16 weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0 lbs....but the baby is definitely growing.

Maternity clothes: Definitely....but I'm mostly wearing dresses and lots of leggings!!

Stretch marks: No

Sleep: Getting harder to stay comfortable.  Sleeping on my sides is getting awkward especially with all the pillows I'm using.  Waking up 3 times a night to pee is no fun!

Best moment last week: We had our regular check up and the hubs was able to go with me.  We heard the baby's heart beating loud and strong!!

Movement: I believe I'm starting to feel the flutters!

Food cravings: Seafood, spicy foods, watermelon, and chocolate milk

Food aversions: Salads mainly the lettuce, I can't have too much of anything sweet! This baby apparently does not have a sweet tooth or gum!  Which is a good thing I guess.

Gender: Don't know yet, we will find out in about 2 weeks. Hubby wants a boy, I want a girl - but I have a feeling that we are having a boy.

Labor signs: None, thank goodness.

Belly button - in or out? in.....outies gross me out!!  So I'm hoping I don't get an outie, lol!

What I miss: Energy, moving quickly.

What I am looking forward to: Finding out what we're having!

Milestones: Getting to 16 weeks without any troubles.

Thanks for stopping by, you all have a fabulous week!

I'm baaaaaack..... kind of!!

Well, well, well......seems like forever since I've been on here.  I know my last post mentioned I was taking a small break and working on some stuff.  I promise you I was!

One of the projects I was working on was my very own personal project......

Growing my very own little baby!!

These past couple of weeks have been a non-stop exhaustion, eating at all hours of the night, drinking lots of water, and peeing about 100 times a night! But I know it will all be worth it.

We are extremely excited and can't wait to meet him or her.  Of course I want a girl and theHubs wants a boy.  I have a feeling I'm having a boy, but I had a dream the other night that the doctor told me I was having a girl.  Either way we are beyond happy to be starting our family.

After we find out the gender I will sew more for baby.  I'm ready to start on those projects.  Time is moving too fast.  Before we know it, it will be January and the baby will be here.

I hope to be getting my energy back soon, it's sad how tired I am.  Honestly I'm just too tired to think straight much less post on the blog or even Facebook.  One thing I have been doing is playing the devil of a game Candy Crush.  It has been there on those sleepless nights when I just can't seem to sleep.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far.  I hope to do more posts this weekend.

Another gift......Tote/Baby bag

Welcome everyone....thanks for stopping by.  I want to also say hi to all my new readers glad you are here.

Okay, here is a new tote/baby bag that I was working on.  I also made bibs and burpies but you've already seen what I can do so I won't show you them, LOL!  This gift set was for my niece.  One tote, two bibs and two burpies.

Here are the fabrics that I used for the tote.
The pink and orange were used for the inside of the bag and the pockets.

Here is the finished product.  I just love this bag.  It's big enough for all the baby items that she will need to carry around.  A big pocket on the inside, two big pockets on the outside and a magnetic snap to close it up.

Sorry I didn't get enough pics or any of the inside.  I was in a hurry and was already walking out the door.  As you can see it was all ready to be given away.  We had to drive all the way to the other side of town.  Since Houston was hosting the NBA All-Star Game, it was a nightmare getting anywhere with all of the traffic, plus we're already dealing with construction everywhere...so you can just imagine.

We finally made it to the baby shower.  The tote and the bibs & burpies were a big hit.

Well, everyone have a fabulous week.

Busy little fingers.....

Is January really over....

Well I'm off to a busy start.  Lots of sewing happening... a new semester at school has started....new construction going on in our home and life is continuing.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left sweet comments for my bibs and burp cloths. Thank you for the features as well.  These were my most pinned item ever.

I'm still sewing, here is a sneak peak of what I've been working on this week.

I never sew for boys....so I was super excited to finally do something boy related.

How cute are these prints

Again I used soft white terry cloth for the backs.  I will show off everything that I made for this gift set.

Sewing for baby!

Hi everyone!!  Hope everyone is having a great day.

Well this post is not going to be very original.  Why you ask - how many times have you seen bibs and burp cloths on a blog post?  See what I mean.

These next couple of months are going to be busy with babies.  Nieces having babies, cousins having babies and friends having babies.  That's a lot of babies.  That also means a lot of sewing is going to be taking place.

What I can tell you is that this has to be one of the easiest things to make.  If you have a pattern that's even better.  I decided to draw some out on poster board.  Not the easiest thing to do.  It was a challenge trying to find something round and big enough for a neck hole.  I finally found a round candle top that was a perfect size.  I'm not going to go into detail about the pattern because there are so many out there for anyone to use.

For the burp cloth you can pretty much free-hand any shape you want - square, rectangle, oval, heart-shaped, eight-shaped  the list can go on.  Totally up to you.   This is a great project for a beginner.

Cut your fabric, put the right sides facing together, and pin.  Then sew around using a 1/4 inch seam allowance.  Don't forget to leave a 2-3 inch opening so you can turn it right side out.  If there are any curves or rounded edges make sure to snip, careful not to cut through the stitch.

I use a chopstick to push out all the edges.  Snipping the curves or rounded edges gives it a nice shape when you iron.  Press with the iron, then top-stitch all the way around.

I love to sew hand-made items.  So doing the extra work like snipping and pressing makes the finished product look like I just bought it from the store.  I want people to be happy with what I make.  I want them to know it's hand-made, but not look like it's home-made.  I hope you understand what I mean, lol!

I used soft white terry cloth for the backs and sewed on Velcro for the bibs.

If you've been visiting my blog long enough you know my motto:  If you make it, then tag it!

These two sets went to my niece who had a baby on the 2nd of January.  I really hope she liked them.

I can't wait to have a baby myself, I know I'm going to be sewing up a storm when that finally happens.

Everyone have a fabulous week.

New Summer Tote Bag!

It feels like Summer is already here in Texas.   We've had some days in the 90s, thank goodness there has been a breeze on the days we've had to be outdoors.  I probably would have melted, lol!  One of those breezy days was on Saturday.  It was for my niece's daughters 1st birthday.....so I guess that would make her my great niece....wow that made me feel old.   I can't be a great anything at 32..... (*_*).

I love making things for people....especially my family and especially for sweet baby girls that turn one!!  Once they're one I feel like they need a new bag instead of a big ole bulky diaper bag.  Plus this bag is big and deep enough to carry diapers and wipes and whatever mom needs to carry.

This bag was one of my favorites to make.  I love the green and pink colors.

I'm not going into too much detail about how it was made.....check out my tote bag tutorial if you'd like.

Pockets sewn on, straps ready to be put on.

I always add a extra little some to the bag.  So I made this cute little stuffed "K" for her name.

See...cute huh!

Love, Love, Love it!!

Here's the inside!

Now, since it was for her birthday the gift of the tote bag doubled as a gift bag.....everyone loved it!  Here it is filled with her gifts - clothes, a stuffed animal and a lady bug.   Ladybug is her nickname and that was the theme of the party.  I am a rebel when it comes to themes or registries....I hate them and I will give what I want.  So if they don't like it...oh well take it back...that's just me! (",)  But since I was in a good mood, I added the little lady bug, plus it was cute.

Here it is ready to be given away to the birthday girl!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my weekly project!

Have a great week everyone.
